Our Story

There are few companies who can claim they have had three generations actively run a successful business, but then again, ACE Glass has always focused on being the exception as opposed to the rule.

Fred L. Price, Sr. began installing glass in Columbia in 1939 at the age of 17. A member of the Army Air Corps during World War II, he continued to work in the glass business until he formed a partnership for a start up company they called Blyco Glass Company, Inc. in 1958. He later sold his interest in Blyco to start ACE Glass Shop in 1964, founding what would later become one of the largest glass firms in the Midlands.  His son, Fred Price Jr., spent the summers of his youth learning from his father, eager to also make a name from himself in the glass industry. Fred Jr. graduated from The Citadel in 1975 and married his college sweetheart Phyllis, who to this day also plays an active role in the daily operations of the company. After purchasing Ace Glass from his father in 1983, Fred Jr. spent several years alongside his mentor, focusing on their shared vision of development, and maintaining extraordinary relationships with their customers and community.

Trey, son of Fred Jr., joined the family business after graduating from Hampton-Sydney College in 2002, becoming the director of the commercial division and establishing a specialty division for automatic doors.  Trey’s sister, Lauren, graduated from the University of Alabama and handles the marketing division of Ace Glass.  Together, the Price’s have seen the company grow tremendously over the last two decades, having opened stores in multiple locations and expanding business into several states.

Fred Price Sr. passed away in 2012, after 73 years in the glass industry.  His legacy and loyalty to exceptional products and service lives on in the values he instilled in his son and grandchildren.  Ace Glass continues to strive for unsurpassed customer service, and commits everyday to making sure these standards carry on into the next generation.  The reason we have been chosen The Best of Columbia year after year is because of the dedication of our loyal employees that make working and doing business with Ace Glass such a pleasure and success.

The Price family plans to continue to expand our customer base and provide quality glass products and customer service well into the next generation.

Our Team

Son, Trey, came on board in 2002 after graduating from Hampton Sydney College. He takes care of the commercial side of the business and has added the automatic door division.

Daughter, Lauren, a graduate of the University of Alabama is also involved in the business and she handles the marketing side.
